Visual Media is information in the form of visual representations. Visual media in marketing uses visually appealing graphics and designs to promote a business or company. It includes not just graphics but also videos and photos.

Visual media is interpreted using what we, as people, see visually instead of aural (hearing) or tactile (touch) media. It plays a role in advertising, art, communication, education, business, and engineering. Visual media is often used as a learning and teaching aid, such as in presentations and training guides.

Outside the different types of characteristics and elements, there are seven components of visual communication: color, shape, tones, texture, figure-ground, balance, and hierarchy. Each of these characteristics, elements, and components play an important role in daily lives.

Billboard advertisements are, first and foremost, a visual medium. Words are often used, but sparingly, because the images are designed to speak for themselves.
